Design Cottage Close to Icelandic Countryside & Reykjavik

Step into one of the oldest homes in town, dating from 1884. Curated by the owners of the design studio Reykjavík Trading Co., The Garden Cottage has been completely remodeled to provide a unique feeling, with a lot of the furniture handmade or meticulously crafted and selected from their travels to California, Scandinavia & Mexico. The land behind The Garden Cottage is home to their designed greenhouse, communal garden, chickens and their most recent addition, The Shed which is their workshop / shop where you can visit for a coffee, buy pieces or see their process of making objects. Curated by the owners & designers of Reykjavík Trading Co. (an Icelandic / California homeware company) the Garden Cottage is their first project of creating a home space for guests to experience a unique & cozy feeling while visiting Iceland. The bottom floor of the 1884 built home has been completely remodeled for guests. Everything in the home has been either made by hand by R.T.Co. or selected from their collection of preferred products & appliances. Anthony Bacigalupo & Ýr Káradóttir, the owners of The Garden Cottage, live & work in the separate upper part of the historic home & their R.T.Co. workshop is located in the back of the garden for guests to visit, learn about the pieces being crafted, or just to have a cup of coffee. We wanted to create a place for guests to experience "slow living" & create a special stay. Having designed spaces for hotels, cafes, bars we decided to put our inspiration & collection into this project & build something completely one-of-a-kind in Iceland. The home was built in 1884 & we have been remodeling & bringing back the style it once was but also bringing back the garden & farm style that was once so prominent back in the day. We believe in hospitality to the fullest which sadly doesn't exist anymore in places. Since we live on the property we can answer any questions you have or have you in for a coffee if you need help deciding your journey in Iceland. The cottage is in the oldest part of Hafnarfjörður, a small harbor town. There are great farm-to-table restaurants, bakeries, live music, artist studios and swimming pools nearby. It’s conveniently located across the road from the town’s bus terminal. The house has three stories but is broken into two flats- we live on the upper floors with our children with separate driveway and front door- but we are here for anything you need or to have a coffee in the greenhouse! Our little town can be easily walked around & explored. Shuttle stops for airport & Blue Lagoon are 3 minutes walk next to the ocean & the bus terminal into Reykjavík is close as well.

This one bedroom apartment is 67sq m is for rent on a daily basis. Located only 4,7 km to Reykjavik center. Pick up included at the city bus terminal upon arrival. (URL HIDDEN) The check out time is 12:00 a' clock. The check in time is between 14:00-16:00 but later if you wish. The 67sq meter apartment has 1 bedroom and a fold out couch in the living room, fully functional kitchen with kitchen supplies and a bathroom with a shower. Wireless internet. The house was built in 2007 A car is included in the rent of the apartment, it's a used Mitsubishi Lancer station wagon and all you pay for is the gas. This cosy cabin is located in the beautiful valley of Kjós, 35 minutes outside of Reykjavik and close to Þingvellir National Park. It is located in a peaceful summer house area surrounded by trees and birdsong, with possibilities for hiking right from the front door. Within 30 minutes driving you can access Þingvellir and the start of the golden circle in one direction, or Hvalfjörður (whale fjord) in the other: a scenic area with one of the best hikes in Iceland, Glymur waterfall.

This apartment is a hidden gem. It brings together being as central as really possible and relaxed atmosphere. The apartment is fully equipped with many comforts. Besides well equipped kitchen and laundry the property offers large TV screen with e.g. access to Netflix. The apartment has two bedrooms. One with a double bed and the other with two separate beds that can be moved together if applicable. It also has a living room and a dining room.

A bright family friendly apartment. The apartment is 104 square fm in a very friendly building. I have a nice balcony facing west. With a pizzaoven, and an outside sofa. Afternoon sun. The whole apartment was renovated in 2021 and has everything you need. Friendly quiet neighbourhood. Free parking just outside my building. You can walk all the way to downtown Reykjavik which is a 10 km beautiful walk through Fossvogsdalur.
