An ideal spot from which to plan your excursions: head west to Galway City (23km); or southwest via Kinvara (24km) to the Burren (43km); and then to the Cliffs of Moher (70km). Or, go east to Loughrea (19km) where there's safe summer lake swimming.

There is a newly opened loop walk which passes Ballymore lake with breath taking views, for the more experienced walker The Foxford way has amazing views and goes along the Ox Mountains.
